Personal choice. I never cared for them and never had one on my C3’s.

I am a fan of the look with the luggage rack. So much so, it was one of the top three “wants” I looked for when buying a C3.

There is "some" controversy whether or not those rack holes can be fixed for good as in not seeing the repaired holes eventually showing themselves in new paint. My advice, DO NOT RUIN YOUR REAR DECK

A sticky should be made of this frequently asked question.

Probably as polarizing as large diameter wheels. I wouldn't put it on in a fit...……….but your Corvette your choice.

It never occurred to me that some people might like the look of the luggage rack. I've always thought it detracted a lot from the look of a Corvette. If it was me and I liked the way it looked I don't think I'd hesitate to put it on.

Its obviously 100% a personal choice, but I vote no. The flowing clean lines of a C3 Corvette if the main reason I love the car, and would hardly want to ruin that with a silly luggage rack.

It's not silly when you and your woman want to go on a long weekend together in the Vette. Tell a woman that she has to pack light because the convertible takes up all the luggage space. Tell a man that he can't take the Vette because the woman needs more luggage space. In other words, luggage racks can get you laid!

I like the look of the rack so much that I purchased one about 20 years ago. The only problem I had was putting it on, it's still on the shelf. T

You have to have priorities. My woman packs only what can and does be fit behind the seat.....and that includes the fact that the T-tops are stowed there. If a woman can't handle that, she can stay at home. Not ruining the looks of my car because of that issue.

Not a damn thing wrong with the looks of my car:

My priorities when going off with my woman is to get laid. If she needs more than an overnight bag to have my priorities achieved then like I said before, a luggage rack will get you laid. I see your priorities are different from mine.

Thanks on all the opinions and each has his reason or reason not too. We can put this to rest please as I'm just going to focus on other areas like exhaust, etc. It is obvious the rack is ok on.. or ok off- all personal choice. as the op I've decided to leave it alone (off) at least for now.

put it to rest?

We're just getting started!

Hmmm, luggage rack vs getting laid? I think I would rather pleasure myself.

I like them with a luggage rack, however, if it didn't come with one on it, I'd leave it without.

I'm really considering adding one to my 72 coupe, I've always liked the look, and it's a great way to store the tops

I personally wouldn't want one. But they seem to look better on the chrome bumper vettes

My avatar says my preference.
It's functional for me, as I always carry the Tops-to-Rack mounts in the storage compartment and I occasionally have to haul something that won't easily fit inside the interior. Bought it cheap due to rust, had 'em powder coated a semi-flat black for contrast. Just me.

I like these posts: no one's right or wrong.

My personal pre-tax $0.02: I like my coupe without the rack, it screams "all business". But I like it on my convertible. On a convertible, it screams "ready for a fun day at the beach!". I have a wicker picnic basket that we strap to the rack for such occasions. hahah.

Default Why not..

Personal choice. I have a luggage rack and use it often. I have this car for driving and traveling and the luggage rack comes in handy. Maybe I can strap a grandkid or two on it...
