Have any of you guys installed a custom stereo system that used a 6.2" or 7" touch screen head unit? I'm looking for one with AM/FM XM USB etc.. Back up cam would be nice too. I saw Kindig it did a 69 Camaro and installed such a unit but I can't find the episode or any info.
Any suggestions?

I have a single din flip-up display head unit. Still a touch screen unit but install would be far easier than fitting a touch screen into the centre dash if that is your intent.

That is really trick looking. Wish I'd thought to do that when I replaced my radio last time. Is that screen stable enough when it's deployed to ride around with it like that?

It's a Pioneer but several years old now. No doubt newer models of the same type should be available and by other mfg's as well. Instead of cutting up my original partially cut up center dash I just bought a new one that was designed with the single din slot. HU is hooked to a JL Audio X400 class D amp mounted in the jack tray compartment. 10" subwoofer in rear and 6-1/2" round speakers behind the kick panels.

i reworked my cluster. You also have to be careful of hu depth. I'll paint mine black to blend in of course.
... or forgo all the high tech, and all the cutting and trimming and install a quality amp and speakers with a direct RCA / aux cable into your Data enabled wifi enabled phone and have it all in a neat little package!

details man... Details????? What head unit??? What system??? Details !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See link below. It's an android unit. Think of a hu that's set up like an android phone. It has playstore apps, multichannel eq, Amazon app, youtube, wifi, etc.....The screen has an obd2 plug so i can run a gauge app for oil press, water temp, etc if i wanted. I don't have a large sound system set up yet because I'm in the middle of an ls3 swap. Infinity cappa 4x6s in dash, 6.5s in luck panels and some 6x9s for the rear that i still have to build boxes for. Just running them off the hu for now. Im running an steeet market ac system too so make sure the depth fits your setup. I do remember seeing some very shallow units on ebay. All of the big name head units were too deep for my car. Plus the 3 big names I've had in the past were very slow at processing commands and usb drive compared to this China brand unit.
it does require some extra work/money but should look clean when done.
