Default Rewireing your car

I have a 67 GTO that I am putting new harnesses in.I bought an American Autowire kit for that car. Summit or E Bay. The kit is great all the wires are labeled, instructions to walk you thru it. All the connectors are factory type. Quality kit. Each section is bagged separately with the wires, connections and instructions. And $400 cheaper than the painless wiring kit. What does this have to do with vettes. They make kits for them. The kit I bought is called the classic update kit. It has extra connectors and wires for gauges and a tach and other things not factory to the car.

I agree with aftermarket harnesses. I rewired Davids 72 racer with the factory harness. By the time I was done I had cut out half of the factory wiring and had to add a lot for the fuel injection and other items. My Cobra obviously has one of these harnesses also. If you are doing other than stock, such as an LS swap or fuel injection it’s aftermarket gauges I would opt for one of these type harnesses. Wiring is never easy or fun but these make it an easier job.

I've used a few of the Painless kits on different projects. The work well. Labeled nicely. The butt connectors and spade that they send with the kit are junk. I never use them. I use butt and spade connectors that are the crimp type and than are heat sealed. Never had one fail. There tech support is good. The universal 21 circuit kit works good for LS swaps since it includes the 12 volt constant and 12 volt switched for the LS ECM as separate wires.

The kit I bought didn't come with butt connectors or generic ones. They are the factory style connectors. You can't tell the difference. And like I said for $400 less you can't go wrong.
