Default Amazing what aluminum foil and spray paint can do for you

De-grease engine.... put foil on everything you don’t want to get orange paint on...
add new valve covers, billet PCV and chrome throttle spring...

Looks fantastic! Was hoping for some photos of the engine with all the foil before paint. Got any?

That is a good tip. Using the foil helps to seal around areas pretty good. Add a little masking tape to other areas, and its a good tape
job for this type of work. Looks good.

Nope....I basically put foil on everything I didn't want painted... and used tape and foil on the radiator hoses... covered the carb with foil as well

I went with Holley.... they are a little more picky about what they sell and Holley is a Kentucky company. They are well made high quality and I like the orange powder coat...

They are also the least expensive finned aluminum covers out there (not what made my decision) you can get them in natural, polish, black or orange. Compare prices....

I used Fel-Pro 1628 gaskets and torqued covers down to 3 ft pounds... Holley recommends 5-6 foot lbs.... I'm starting with 3 lbs. I did not use any glue or RTV. I did get bolts and cut the heads off and hand screwed them in the mounting holes. I used them to hold gaskets in place...then set the cover on....then removed and replaced with the mounting bolts 1 at a time.... That way I was assured everything lined up perfect.

I like that the valve covers don't have the manufacturer's name on them. I think it makes valve covers and air cleaners look ugly when they say "Moroso" or "Edlebrock", etc. I wouldn't pay money to advertise some companies product.

I agree unless it says Corvette or Chevrolet and I don't like it saying Chevrolet too much.

When I but a car from the dealer (new or used) I tell them I will buy the car with their dealer sticker on the back if they pay me $100 a month for advertising for them. If they refuse then I tell them to take the damn thing off or I won't buy the car. None of my cars have dealer advertisement crap on them and never will unless the pay me the $100 a month.
