I asked this question on the performance section but got no response. I`m replacing the inside window sweep but it looks like the old one was stapled on with staples penetrating the steel plate that hang`s the door panel to the door. I have nothing that will do that so what are other ways to attach the inside sweep ? Sorry, it`s a 74 coupe

Reason: more info
I used pop rivets. The staples are so heavy that they can, in theory, be removed and replaced but normal corrosion makes such time consuming at best and impossible if the staples can't withstand the bending and cleaning. I tried the staple replacement thing for a couple hours, said "this isn't worth it" and used the pop rivets. Just put some flat black paint on the inside (towards the glass) part of the rivets and everything looks fine.
Pop rivets, of course thank you. One more question. What type sealant do I use on the outside sweep ?
Sorry, can't help with that. '68, no sweep on the outside, just felt. I only have a sweep on the inside because I have later door panels. I'm not sure how sealant would help; water is going to run on the inside of the door either way. What does the AIM say was used, if anything.
I didn't notice any sealant used on the outer sweeps of my '79. In mine they are press fit applied over "buttons" about the diameter of a pencil eraser that go through holes in the strip. I read numerous times and in more than one place to buy ONLY the best quality outer seals as the placing of the holes and shape of the piece is utterly critical for them to fit. Many reports that the cheap versions completely defy proper installation.
