My Vette's been sitting a year now and I finally decided it's time to get moving again. I pulled the NOM and punched it out .060. I also bought all the goodies to build one badass 496. I plan on starting assembly around 9/16.
My only concern is the intake. I want to keep it all under the hood which is going to be a real challenge. For now I have a Torker2 and Holley 950. I hope to upgrade to fuel injection in the not so distant future.
I want to keep the engine bay super clean by replacing the clunky with modern. I'm planning on electric water pump, Densco alternator and Type2 PS pump (all serpentine). I will fabricate the brackets myself and put everything as low as possible. I will post post pix of my progress.
I have the rotating assembly in hand and most of the other parts will be here within the next week or so. I'm super excited!!!!
Definitely post pictures. I'm planning to go to the next step on the NOM 454 in my 68 convert this winter by installing domed pistons to increase the CR. Last winter's project was aluminum rect port heads, better intake, HEI, electric fuel pump and a bigger cam. Don't think I will go the stroker route, at least not yet. Good luck on your project.
