Hi. I have been working on my 74 that i bought last fall. It had been sitting in a barn for the last 30 years. I just put it on the road and the steering wheel is sticky any way to fix it or do i have to replace it. thanks bill
Don’t know if the “sticky” can be fixed or not. If you decide to replace, I have the original wheel from my 75 I’d sell. Removed at 66k miles and nearly like new.

Hi Bill! welcome to the forum!
There is no need to replace your steering wheel...You can definitely clean it up using the following steps:
1) Wipe the wheel down good with a terrycloth rag and acetone. As you clean you will observe the oils coming off that have leached out over time.
2) Wipe down with another clean terrycloth rag and lacquer thinner. This step will remove any residue left behind by the acetone.
3) Wash with mild soap and water to remove residue left from steps 1 and 2.
Be sure to wear protective gloves when performing steps 1 and 2. The first 2 steps will NOT damage the grain on your steering wheel.
Follow those steps and your steering wheel will feel like brand new with absolutely NO stickiness or tackiness whatsoever. Guaranteed!
