Default 69 L46 smog equipment

I've got a 69 L46 that was bought new in Detroit Michigan. Would it have had a smog pump? The only signs that it may have are the plugs in the exhaust manifolds.
Thanks

If plugs in manifolds it had AIR pump. They wouldn't machine the ports just to plug them. Unless manifolds were replaced.

My 69 L46 started life in Ohio and had an AIR pump. That would have been stock equipment.

The manifolds having been replaced in the last 49 years is a distinct possibility.

Does it still have the timing decal on the firewall. I don't know that different decals were issued but that might be another clue. You'd have to do the research yourself!

1969 L-46 came with an A.I.R. pump, the 1970 L-46 did not.

the donor car for my 69 project was an early model built in Nov 68. As you can see it did have the A.I.R. system, My understanding is that they all had it in 69.

100% yes. All 1969 Corvettes had A.I.R. Some of the parts were different depending on the engine though. When was your car built?

Avalonjohn is 100% correct. EVERY 1969 Corvette came from the factory with the A.I.R. system, even the L88.

Thanks for the replies! I’m not looking to re-install the A.I.R. Pump, just looking for another excuse to not worry about originality.

Just to help you justify opting out, changing plugs was a real pain and the relief valve made an annoying popping noise when you backed off the throttle.
