Default 69 vent ****

Hello. My 69, Nov. built has two round vent ***** on the center console. I have a pair of extra ***** that came with the car. The two pairs differ in that one pair has a smooth back and the other pair have a rough, textured back to them. Does any one know what was originally in the car. I know a very small mater, just wondered since I do have both. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the replies. It was built in Nov. 69. I believe they switched sometime in 69 from the bar to the ball type, not sure when but I wondered why there appears to be two slightly different ball types. I wondered if it was a case of different aftermarket companies just making different products. Can't seem to find the smooth ones in the different suppliers web sites and got me curious.

At the beginning of 69 production, 69's came with the chrome, three sided ***** used in 68. Later in the year, the chrome ***** were replaced with round black plastic *****, with a smooth back. The black ***** with the smooth back, were also used in 1970. In 71, a grained finish was added to the back side of the air vent *****, though the "PUSH" and arrow markings on the front, remained the same. The grained ***** were used from 71-76.

For many years, the only ***** available were the ones with the grained finish. The repro 69-70 ***** with the correct smooth finish, only came out about 10 years ago. Not all vendors carry the correct for 69-70, smooth *****.
