Hi I am new to Corvetteforum.com. I am interested in this Corvette for sale and I'd appreciate any thoughts as to whether this is a good find/buy or not.
Pics of the underside, body mounts and engine can help us help you. The pics the seller shows, shows us a nice looking car so far. Mainly what you are wanting to know is windshield A pillar rust, windshield header rust, body mount rust and obviously frame rist. The fiberglass is bonded to a metal frame called the birdcage and if thats rusty the car is in sad shape. The birdcage is bolted to the frame by the body mounts. You can check the rear body mounts/ frame mounts by looking under the car and in the rear tire wells. The front body mounts can easily be seen by taking out the front kick panels in the passenger compartment footwells. windshield rust is harder but you can sometimes ssee it through the glass or take off the T tops and look in the gaps. The owner should be willing to show you these areas if there isnt a problem. Rusty front body mounts will usually accompany a rusty windshield frame.
This is just a quick overview. THere is a lot to look for and the 10 things sticky will get yo on the right track and others will jump in too. Just get him to send you more pics
the motor and tranny will have serial numbers on them to match the VIN if its a matching numbers car. In the North East the price would be around the $22k he is asking. More if it was a big block or convertible

Wow, thanks for the help! I will see if I can get some photos of those areas and post them to see what you think.
Looks like a nice Corvette. But then again they all do until you start digging. I see a base model with limited options. The color is not very flattering. A windshield repair can be a PITA, and can lead to more problems and expense. This is a 50 year old car, and will need work and regular maintenance. Price seems a little high for a decent driver. You say #s match, but I would check myself if that is something thats important to you. Deduct some points as well for the automatic. Most Corvette enthusiasts don’t care for slush pumps. Not a deal breaker for me. Good luck.
Theres a difference between want and value. It doesnt matter if matching numbers matters to you, verify that yourself anyway so you can correctly assess the value. You can then decide whether the price is accurate, including how that squares with your preferences. In the same vein, it doesnt matter if you "care for" smog systems, a nice stock system can be worth in the neighborhood of $1000. If you hate it you can sell it in a millesecond.
So, when figuring the price, calculate where the value is, but dont be confused by whether you want something or not. 2 different things.
Looking closer, I cant tell if those are wrong year highback seats with awful replacement covers or '69 seats with missing headrests. Either way, ecch. Is the interior Gunmetal? Does it match the trim tag? Or is it black with the lighting in the pic being odd?
22 is a hair high for a coupe, especially with an auto, but the air is a nice value boost. Engine compartment is pretty scruffy. Gotta look close at numbers, prior body repair and rust before making a final assessment.

I just got a look a t the interior pics. If you look at the seat pics you can see the door window weatherstrip and whiskers are missing. Along with the aftermarket seat covers the price should be dropping. There may be alot of hidden items you may have to consider

The dash is cracked right above the A/C vents. And the map pockets look stretched out. I dont think the interior will look
as good as the outside of the car based on some of these observations.
$22k for this looks on the high side. But it depends on what you want, and if silver is your color you really have limited options.

also I'm thinking the door panel is warped , probably badly . Usually end up with a big gap at the top when the bottom is forced back onto the door shell. OP might want to look for extra screws holding the panel on .
