('78) alternator rebuild tips?

alt only putting out 9volts, rough when I spin it and squeals like a pig up to about 3000rpms

Ordered a rebuild kit, rectifier, bearings etc.

Any step by step rebuild articles with photos?

i have it apart and looks new inside.

if it's squeals, it's trying to charge but the belt is slipping. Try getting the belt tighten up and see what you have before you rebuild it. Oh it's already apart.

Sweet. Thanks and yes it's already apart

belt was tight as I and a 3' bar could make it. Maybe even overtight, which may be what screwed the bearing(s)

Bought the rebuild kit at local auto parts place. $20.
fyi, not all kits have the small bearing in them.

put mine together tonight, didn't solve my problem.
