Anyone? I'm looking to put this on my 69 350/300 auto. I don't know anything really about fuel pumps...I'd order a new one but this one seems like it's okay, I just don't know if it's meant to go on this car.
do the fittings look the same as what is on the car now?
The fitting size does, but the one that was on it was a Peirce and the part that has the barb is extended down. It looks like what's on some of the BB cars.
Just some additional photos I had. I'll check the fittings tonight. If they're the same size should I be able to use the pump? I just didn't know if this was the right look to the 69 either since the one that was on it seems to look like what's an a BB with the barb (non-threaded) part longer.
So, I wanted to follow up on this. The more I start looking at these pumps, the more I find that they're significantly different and all the vendors seem to have a variation...even with the AC stamped pumps. As it stands, I've not been able to find anyone to identify the AC pump I've posted, so I bought a new one from one of the big vendors (Carter pump I think?) for a 68-69 327 or 350. Like the AC pump, it has the small inlet but the barb is pointed in the opposite direction. It says it's a replacement for 40709. The pump that the PO had on the car has the long inlet and is a Pierce? replacement with the barb in yet another position (there is no part number on it). The thing is, is that the old Pierce pump is what allows the "S" hose to line up properly with the fuel lines. Both the new pump and the AC pump requires the hose to be a bit contorted in order to connect. So, I'm still lost as to what pump belongs on my car????? It's a 69 early (10/68) 350/300 AT. I need help.
Notice the barb location. New Carter pump (40709) on left, AC pump in the middle, and Pierce on the right.
