I got word yesterday that the engine will be on the dyno by December 1st....if everything works out with it, I'll be driving up to Colorado to play with it on the dyno and bring it home December 10th....I won't waste much time sticking it in the car.

Fingers crossed for good numbers on the dyno. I'm not expecting huge gains but...I hope to see a little something with the changes we made.

Hopefully I'll get to update the thread with good pics/vids etc before long.

Can't wait to see the video and pics! Say hi to Mark for me when you're there. He's building a 467 for me too

Yeah, He should have it all dialed in for me before I get there, I told him to leave it on the dyno so I could watch it pull and see the info pop up first hand. I'm hoping it'll make some serious snot...he is trying some experimental stuff on it...He's had it for 6 months so....plenty of time to develop stuff...

I'm just ready to get my car running again, it has never been down this long in the 12 years I've owned it...

Did I see on another thread you are going to run solid roller lifters on your cam? Anxious to see the numbers!

Yeah, the new setup is a 248/258*, .630"/.603", 109 lsa HYD roller cam, but running Morel solid roller lifters, "low lash" at .006". Kind of an experimental deal. Also new/lighter valves, Scorpion "Endurance" roller rockers etc... We knocked about 60 grams of weight off of each lobe/valve. So it "should" end up about the same amount of cam I had before, maybe a TAD more, but with a much lighter valve train and more stable lifters. We'll see. Mark said he picked up about 20 cfm on the intake and exhaust ports over what I had before. Also doing a few other small "tricks"... So we'll see. His dyno is reading a little lower in his new shop compared to his old shop mine was in before so....not sure if we'll see gains on the dyno or not but, we should see them in the car. I'm planning on a track rental in Feb so....we'll see. Mark is confident it should trap 130 mph in GOOD air.... I hope so....

That’s all she’s got folks. Spent a half day on the dyno testing all kinds of stuff, theories I had etc etc. 14 pulls later, this is the hero pull. Came up a little short on 700hp...
This was with my 850 cfm carb. The 1000hp dyno carb was about 4-5hp over the 850, but we didn’t test the 1000 again after the 850 went on and we started cranking up the timing. It “would” have made 702-703hp with the 1000 but....All in all, I’m very happy with it. What Mark Jones does with these things is pretty amazing.

I'd say 698.7 is close enough to 700Hp, Nice job on one of THE coolest cars on this forum. I love watching the progress.

What valve lash setting and timing did you end up with? Sounds terrific!

Lash was .008” in / .010” exh. Timing ended up at 37* when we were chasing the numbers with the 850 carb towards the end. I won’t likely run it that high in the car, at least not on pump gas... probably will be 33-34* in the car for safety.

When we had the 1000 carb on it, the timing was at 36*. Going from 36-37* was worth about 5-6hp. Also when we switched to my MSD distributor using a 7AL box vs Mark’s MSD distributor with a non multispark box, it gained 5hp on average. This was all after we took the 1000 carb off.. had we thrown the 1000 back on at the very end of all of this, it would have broke 700... The 1000 seemed to be worth about 4-5hp over the 850....but even the 850 rejetted was still richer then the 1000, that was probably the power difference.

Very impressive numbers.
I can't wait to see how it performs for you, once it's in the car.

Thanks Bruce. I’m just eager to get the car running again. I’m hoping to have it running by New Years..or real close. Then have to schedule the exhaust work.

All plumbed up, ready to go in. Hopefully I'll get it stabbed in there on Tuesday.

The eagle has landed. Made pretty good progress today. Stabbed it in, trans/headers bolted up, working on the accessories now which is a huge pain in the ***.. Slowly but surely it’s going together. Hopefully/maybe start it weds afternoon if I can cobble the exhaust pipes together for the trip to the muffler shop.

I’ll be hard at it all day tomorrow.

Where is the column that shows exactly what CFM the motor used? Did you get to see that?
