Thanks Bruce. Yeah I’ll be at the shop the whole time with them. I’ll have to install the system as they won’t know how it all goes together. No one will be driving this ole girl but me.

Looks fantastic. Vette has a nice stance, and you should be proud of a job well done.

I spent the day yesterday cleaning, detailing and touching up the paint on the rear side of the undercarriage. It doesn't look as good as when it was all fresh 9 years/25k miles ago but...it cleaned up/touched up ok I think. I didn't want to disassemble it all just to repaint it so, I did the best I could with it all together. This car won't be at judged car shows etc anyway, but I wanted it as nice as I could get it considering.
I still have to work on the stuff forward of the diff but, this is the visible stuff.
Thoughts?
thanks for posting the detailed pics

Just read through this whole thread; not sure how I missed it before.
Very nice job! Very much a drivers car. It looks essentially stock to the casual observer but with better paint and “go.” I love that you left the brakes stock. Love the feel of manual brakes if they’re done right. This should be an example to all those that feel they have to convert to power brakes.
Congrats on getting it done and enjoy it!

My C7Z makes 565 rwhp on a DJ, and it traps pretty close to the 71’ and they are within 40-50lbs of each other so......there’s some “Ricer math” for ya.

Today’s Craigslist SCORE of the week. I found a NICE set of rally wheels, already repainted, and new in box (purchased in 1980) GM trim rings and a really nice set of center caps (way nicer then mine), for $575, an hour a way. Needless to say I rushed over and got them. I’ll be mounting my BFG radial TAs on these wheels and putting them back on the car for daily duty as these Wide Oval radials drive like ***. I’ll be using them for car shows and that’s about it. So now I’ll have 3 sets of Rally wheels/tires for this car.

On another note, today I got the car back from the body shop, I had it there to get the C Quartz Ceramic coating put on. Came out pretty good, added some shine and protection. Now I can feel a little better about driving it.

Wow that’s looks incredible! Nice score on the wheels too! I have been reading about these ceramic coatings since my paint is now new also. Interested to hear your thoughts on it.

Yeah, we’ll see. Time will tell. The stuff ain’t cheap, that’s for sure ($600), but supposedly nothing sticks to it, it’s a very hard shell, supposedly even bird **** won’t etch it within 24hrs. Requires much less wiping to keep dust off etc and it’s supposed to stay swirl mark free. You have to use special car wash, detail sprays etc etc with the coating tho.
After you paint the car, you have to wait 2 months before the coating can go on. It’s supposed to last 3-5 years on non daily driver type cars.
My dad has the C Quartz on 2 of his mid year vettes and he loves it. We’ll see....

What about those Little Rock chips we all love?
Will it chip like paint and if so can it be spot repaired?

Yeah you’ll definitely still get rock chips. The ceramic coating is basically just a bad *** sealer/wax that lasts a while. It’s not like the 3M clear film or anything. If anything touches/hits the paint, it’s still gonna scratch/chip like any other paint. The ceramic coating is really more for water spots, dust/dirt prevention etc.... and it always has that freshed wax look, you don’t have the wax the car every 2-3 months like regular wax.
