Default 1978 C3 Custom Front Bumper

Does anyone make a custom fiberglass front bumper for the 75 to 79 C3 that eliminated the bumperettes? I don't necessarily want chrome bumpers just something more like a 74 with the small vertical supports.

To clarify, I'm already replacing a ton of body panels at this point and I plan to do some fender flairs and a few other things so the added trouble of changing a front bumper style isn't really a big deal. I suppose if all else fails I could get a fiberglass bumper from a 74 and modify the 78 nose to accept it but it would much easier if someone made this already.

If you are already making all those bodywork modifications you will have to repaint the car anyway, so why not just shave the bumperettes on your current bumper? Would save you a chunk of cash.

Normally I would, but the current front bumper is hashed and is not usable.

Have you checked with any of the aftermarket fiberglass providers?

In the process now. ACI makes an 82 style that fits 78. It looks better than stock but in my opinion not a clean as some of the early styles.

I never liked the pseudo 80 style bolt ons for pre 69 noses,
If i was doing a 73 to 79 nose i would either run dons conversion nose or a 73 74 with larger grills they just look better to me than the 75 to 79 small grills, shaving the rettes off it not a big deal

I don't know any supplier for this but you can do it yourself. This only took me 150 hours: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1597888780

Nobody makes a bolt on 73/74 style front bumper for a 75 to 79. It's not that hard to adapt a 73/74 front bumper though.

Mike,
How did you maintain a straight line where the 2 planes of the hood come together at the center of the nose? How did you fill the gap between the notch in the old hood and the back of the new bumper while maintaining the subtle body line of the center of the hood?

If your bad front bumper is glass, cut that piece between the headlights out and attach it to the new 74 bumper, the 78 nose, or both if glassing the bumper in.
