Default 68 headlight doors Qs

hey guys, i have heard several times now that early 68 headlight buckets are a different size then other years? if this is true is the top surround holes different also? what was the cut off date? does anyone have the size difference that i could get, so i can measure mine? another thing, are the headlight covers suppose to be plastic or metal? fill me in here guys!!! thanks troy

68 doors and openings changed three times before the size stabilized. These changes were very early in production. If your existing doors fit the openings in your hood surround panel, you're good.

Not sure if your on Facebook but if you are there’s a 68 only corvette group. Lots of knowledgeable people there that can answer most any questions on 68’s.

Dec. 67 still had the smaller door. Top shroud is sized to fit the doors. The larger doors will fit in the smaller shroud opening but it's a tight fit. The headlight bezel is metal.

October 67 build has smaller headlight doors and bezels. I've been searching for the correct bezels for 7 years and yes they are metal.

thank you, but no i do not have a facebook account.. i had one for about 2 weeks when our daughter died to communicate with her friends, and other concerned people. and a few of my ex girlfriends showed up on it... NOT GOOD! my wife came unglued..not that she had anything to worry about, but the stress was already over the top....that was a couple yrs ago. i may look into it again..thank you very much...troy

my car is a 1/16/68 prod date according to my NCRS papers. so were would that put me as far as door openings? my front end was jacked out of shape. and it is hard telling whats OEM..fill me in please..thanks troy
