Door hinge damage fix?
When my 1968 drivers side door is opened all the way the door edge hits the lower hinge causing the pictured damage. Door gaps are reasonable on both sides and door opens and closes good. Door is inline with the front clip. Any ideas how to fix the interference?
Usually when this happens the stop on the hinge is the problem, with or without the S spring the hinge was designed to stop the door from over opening. Sadly, I've got a 69 in my shop right now where the car was "rolled" and the body shop that repaired it left a glob of weld inside the A pillar so when the customer opened the door it popped the paint off just like yours.
I'd look at the hinges first, see if they are worn to a point where they can open too far. If this is the case replace the hinges.
Look closely at the bottom hinges. They incorporate a "stop" to keep exactly what you describe from happening. They probably got sprung when the door was opened and caught by wind or possibly just thrown open too aggressively. They could be bent back into shape, but probably not while mounted to the car. Chip.

Thanks....I will give it a look. Right now I am focusing on safety and reliability issues but this is on my to-do list.
