Default Gauge light

Hi to all,
there is a way to change the light in the gauge panel?
I've noticed that some, like the water gauge, is completely dark.
Thanks

The short answer is yes, but it depends on what year your car is. There is a bulb for each gauge and it requires taking the center console apart. Not difficult but it is time consuming. Do a search of this forum and I think Willcox has some info On their website. I plan to convert all of mine to LED this winter.

The water gauge bulb you might be able to reach from the side by removing the lower passenger side dash panel.

On second thought, maybe not..............I forgot there was another switch/light that might be in the way.....

One issue with the sockets used on 77-82 cars is the fingers inside the socket. If you are replacing the bulbs (194) you should test them before you re-install them. The terminal fingers inside open up over the years sometimes corrode, so check them before you re-install them. You can take a small blade flat screw driver and tweak the terminals too.

You can also look at the 194 bulb and see tiny wires that make a loop when they come out of the bulb and prying them away from the bulb a tiny bit will also help the bulb make good contact with the socket.

From the rear. Remove the passenger's side dash pad to allow a little bit of working room.

You twist those screws and you;ll just break plastic....

You must remove the center dash cluster and the remove the rear pod from the gauges to fix...

Easy Mike... you ever get close to me let me know.. Breakfast is on me..

E

So... depending on the year of the car.. please post it... I'll send you info on how to remove the center cluster.
