Hello, I'm going to replace the radio that's in my 71 convertible. Its not original and its not worth saving. I want to get one that is a replica of the old style post radios. Does anyone have anything, good or bad, to say about any of the replicas out there to buy? Radios like the USA-740, or any from custom auto sound, or retro sound I don't care about Bluetooth, but I would like an aux or USB port. Thanks.
I know this is a matter of choice/opinion, but I have a newer Kenwood radio that I love. I could buy a new bezel from willcox that allows for a din radio to be installed and use that. Do you guys think that would be sacrilegious?

tried another dearer brand, same crap ....
then left the original in for looks and eventually went to a bluetooth amp up under the dash, plays from my samsung phone/tablet great.
do a search on here, there are many threads about the poor quality.
Since I like Pandora and also like to put lots of music on my phone, I am thinking of doing the bluetooth power amp route as well. What brand/model did you buy that you felt was great?
I put a retro sound in and it works fine and looks good. Doesn't have bluetooth, but does have an aux in.
i also made speaker box / amp mount to put in the back.
Pushing about 4000 watts according to the paperwork that came with the amps.
I just had a thread like this up a month or 2 ago asking for myself. I bought this- 1969-1971 Corvette Antique Automobile Radio AM/FM Stereo Radio 25-257214-1 from Ecklers Automotive Ebay store. It's expensive and sounds good, but would probably sound better if I went through and upgraded the speakers to a new type that can take the discharge at a louder sound. My car was mono so I just have hime theatre speakers in the back the PO but there, and stock in the front. Easy to wire up though, but I still haven't learned all the controls and nuances if the thing since it appears to be a little complicated to run at first and program considering it doesn't have a digital read out. That being said, I still believe it was my best option. Just need to learn operation.
Thanks. I've read so many threads my head is spinning. I'd like to get a radio that looks stock but is modern. Since I don't have a radio to convert, and it seems the retro radios aren't worth buying, my best option is the antiqueautomobileradio route. I don't mind spending the money, I just want to be sure it's worth it, quality wise. I have a convertible so I'm not expecting great sound, but I do want to be able to hear it if I want.
