Default Fan - part number?"

The 69 L71 is fitted with a 5 blade 17.5" fan. Does this fan have a part number? I am told it is only stamped with an H. But I am skeptical? Please advise?

I am sure there is a part number for the fan but its not found on the fan itself. The H is correct. The 69 L71 did not use any special fan. It used the same as every other 69 big block 427. In addition to the 'H' you will also see the word 'FRONT' as well as a '66' or '99' (depending on how you are looking at it). I believe they repro this fan but I do not know if there are any differences between the repro and the original.

I don't know if the same fan was used for the small block but it would not surprise me if they did.

5 blade = GM #3888366 fan
This fan was discontinued from service and replaced by
7 blade = GM #3955182 fan
Look for the part number on the blade

I have the 7 blade fan you reference with that part number on the car - would that be considered correct from a restoration perspective? Or do I look for the 5 blade? I know the 7 bade has a part number, does the 5 blade have a part number on it - there seems to be some confusion on that point?

My original 5 blade fan has just the H. No part number just like yours. I have several of these fans and none have a part number or a date code.

Thanks
Joey
