Default Need Help Identifying

Can someone tell me what this is...the green wire(power wire) goes to the AC compressor which is an A6 compressor the black wire goes to the back of the compressor.. As you are looking at it the green wire that is just underneath the back wire is 12 volts, however the lower green wire which runs to the compressor clutch to power it only has 3.5 volts... I am at a loss to determine what this is and why the voltage through this connection is stepped down.... The splice you see is there because I have converted this over to 134a and have installed a VIR ELiminator. This is a 73 if that helps...

On a 73, it is a thermal limiter fuse for the air conditioner. If you pull it out, the AC will not run. Picture of mine on my 73 below:

Here is part at Paragon:

So then is mine bad since I have 12 volts in but only 3.5 volts out?

Yes it could be bad requiring replacement. But also check all the connections - Clean and tighten them. Trace back along the wires for breaks or other dirty/loose connections.

The wires are basically 12v green in to fuse and green out to compressor. The black wire comes from a heat sensor on the compressor; if running to hot from lack of freon or other reason it will short that fuse. Check ebay for them. You probably buy 3-5 for the price of one from a Corvette parts supplier.

Thanks guys for your help on this I'm pretty sure its the Thermal fuse, was able to get another one from O'Reilly Autoparts for 4.99. Heck of a lot cheaper then corvette part places... Now to track down a minor leak...
