I have a 1973 C3 Corvette and I accidentally plugged the battery terminals reversed. I have searched about this issue and I figured that the fusible links need to be replaced. My problem is that the car is being imported and they might ask me to run it at the port. Is it possible to fix the car at the spot? and what do I need to do so? step by step process would help.
I had the same “no electric” issue recently on a 75 barn find that I just bought. If you have a test light, it will make it easier. Start at the starter, there should be three wires attached to the positive terminal. One of the smaller wires is the link. If you have a test light, check both ends to see if you are getting power. If you don’t have a test light, take off the nut holding the wires on to the starter and see if there is a flimsy spot in the wire. In my case, you could not see any burn/damage visibly but you could feel where the wire was burnt through on the inside. As a temporary fix if you have enough wire left, cut back to the good part of the wire and attach it to the starter.

Ahh the British 'Lucas prince of darkness' strikes again.
Yes, you can run the car without the fusible links....Hardwired. Fix them later.
I STRONGLY recommend that you put a 'green-switch quick disconnect' on the negative ground (BLACK). so that on initial startup, if you see any smoke, you can immediately disconnect it.
Check the ground wire to the chassis under the battery box...you'd be surprised!
Negative ground car through chassis....Black is neg.
Red is pos.
Don't feel bad...I did a similar thing on my 61 Austin Healey Bug-eye (frogeye) whilst installing an american radio! (brain fart) Hey! KMART this radio is SMOKING! lol.

Just to clear things up, I connected them in the wrong way because they were the same color and I made a guess lol
i have a 1973 and have a blown fusible link near the wiper motor. how to replace and where to I get parts? I live near Atlanta, Ga. My other concern is there is very little room or extra wire length for a repair. My car has no power at all. please help Tyler.
