I wouldn't use anyone one else. The peace of mind with them is well worth it.
I hope you meat AGREED value. There is a big difference. Not really sure if Hagerty sells Stated value.

The main reason i went with Haggerty was the their totaled option, if my car gets totalled, they cut me a check for the amount i insured it for, and give me the car back. Worth it.

I talked to the USAA partner about coverage for my '79 and they told me that it would only be covered for any incidents if it were locked in my garage, or at a show or shop. If I were to stop off at a grocery store or have it at my workplace, no coverage. I drive it once or twice a week so I went with normal USAA auto coverage until I find something that works better.

I'll check on NCM, hadn't seen that before

In 2 decades I see that USAA is exactly the same. Even if you were with say a Corvette club doing a road trip to say the NCM - USAA clearly stated to me the car would NOT be covered by their classic insurance if something happened in say a hotel parking lot "unless it was in a locked garage or guarded". They were 100% clear that I would have to arrange for locked parking facilities or 24x7 guard for a road trip.

I will however say that most any classic car insurance doesn't want you driving your car to work.

Decades ago, USAA told me that, using their 'normal' auto coverage - they would 'not pay out above the original MSRP of the car'. Further, they told me that even then would only pay a depreciated value based off the MSRP. Clearly this is geared towards an assumption of new cars and normal depreciation. So if you had say a '71 that originally sold for say $4k and today is worth say $20k - well in the case of a complete loss, you'd be negotiating with USAA for something well below $4k.

THANK YOU for this info - I was trying to get "What is the max payout" out of the USAA rep but I'm not sure they understood what I was trying to ask, and I finally gave up since I figured I'd be shopping for insurance elsewhere anyway.

So is there a classic car/agreed value insurance with which you can actually use the car?

I'm not a cheer leader for Hagety, but I could be. When a serious incident affected my 70- LS-5, my first call to Hagerty was answered by a savvy agent who told me, "don't worry, everything is going to be all right," and she was right. Their agents are car people and know what it takes to make a Corvette and a nervous owner good again.

I use state farm agreed value coverage. full coverage, 250 deductible, glass, collision and liability, insured agreed value is 16,500 and the premium is 120 every 6 months. it is a bit higher then some policies but I am covered with no haggling in the event of a wreck or the garage burns down. ive used hagerty in the past and found them unreliable in paying a towing claim I had when the water pump failed 50 miles from home. they originally denied the claim because they claimed it was a failed maintiance issue. when confronted they dropped that line and stated the policy only allowed towing within 40 miles. ive never used usaa but have also heard some good things about them.

Sure - probably anyone outside of USAA's classic... I posted mine above and other have good or better options. Outside of not commuting to work - I think there are a # of decent options out there... Some can give you options for more or less mileage with a higher or lower rate.

So are yo guys saying USAA or their affilate American Collectors insurance. I use American collectors, agreedvalue, it has to be locked in a garage but I can drive it any where under 7500 miles a year. Usually the antique insurance has the shows only clause, thats why I didnt go that route

I don't know why I waited so long to do it but I finally talked to Hagerty yesterday and signed up. Sounds like they fit my needs perfectly. They clarified for me that as long as it's not my daily driver, things like the occasional pleasure drive or commute to work or road trip is covered.

Many years ago I got a quote from them for my DeLorean that was much higher than I thought reasonable, so I think that had put me off of trying them out. The Hagerty policy for my 79 is only a few dollars monthly more than USAA, which surprised me

I have had my '76 insured through American Modern for the last 5 years and am very please with them and their coverage. Only one claim to date and that was a windshield. They paid, no questions! I pay $223 per with no deductible per year and must keep it in a locked garage and am limited to 3000 miles per year. I suppose I could up the miles and they would adjust the amount but I rarely drive more than that anyway. I also have an agreed to value of $20,000! Includes roadside coverage, etc. As for usage this is the wording from my policy: We define "occasional pleasure" as activities consistent with or related to participation in vehicle shows/exhibitions, vehicle club activities, parades, and leisure/pleasure drives. Leisure/pleasure drives does not include incidental driving to work unless policy is properly endorsed.

As for the agreed value wording, it is as follows: "if the vehicle is destroyed or not able to be repaired you will receive the amount that we agreed upon and is shown in your declaration page plus an additional 2% of the agreed value per quarter throughout the policy term. Also, $2,000 for spare parts, accessories and emergency tools. Also $75 per occurrence for towing and $600 per occurance for Trip Interruption to cover transportation, expense, and meal costs resulting from a covered loss when traveling away from home"

I used to have Grundy. I moved with my agent to Condon Skelly. $48,000 agreed value, $0 deductable ( I think), $350 per year and they have never asked me for my mileage.

Still with Hagerty, since the early 2000’s.
‘72 convertible insured at agreed value. No reason to shop elsewhere really. Their reputation speaks for itself.
