1977 Corvette Tires
Hello,
need some confirmation on the original Tires on the 1977 Corvette off the assembly line.
I was told it was the Firestone Radial 500 and there was a recall for those tires back then (I was told)
I thought it was Goodyear tires, but I was incorrect as the 1978 Corvette was the first year with the Goodyear Tires.
can anyone confirm this information?
Thanks for your help.

Had them on my 76. The tires and Firestone's lack of action are the reason I dislike Firestone to this day! Time to forgive?

Burning Brakes
The 500's were original equipment on my '77. I have paperwork showing a recall on my car later in '77 or '78 in think, to change them out for Firestone 721's.

"A GR70-15 Blackwall steel belted radial tire was original equipment on all 1975 - 1977 Corvettes. Manufactured by Goodyear as a "Goodyear Steelguard" radial tire, and Firestone as the "Firestone Steel Radial 500", these were the only two original equipment tires for Corvettes in the model years 1975 - 1977."
"Optional from both manufactures was a white letter tire and a white stripe tire. The white lettered were a solid white letter, not an outline white. The size of the letters were no more than 1-1/2 inches tall. The white stripe was 3/8-inch."
Hope this helps,
DKW

Me and my brand new 1977 C3 in 1977:
My C3 was manufacturers early on in 1976 in the manufacturing cycle.
Here ya go.

Firestone Radial 500
Here's a photo of my 1977 as found in 2014 with the Firestone Radial 500's. The car was parked in 1979. I had to put air in the tires to get the car home, 4 years later they still hold air. I will never drive the car with the Firestone's. Too dangerous.
