Forum Members Thank You !!!
What a great resource Corvette Forums is.
Thank you all for freely volunteering your knowledge
Every time I googled anything on 69 vette it lead me here.
I bought this 69 in good condition with intentions on going on some cross country road trips with my wife.
But 50 yr old parts ????
This forumn resourse emboldened me to restore my self.
Local machine shop that specializes in building race engines pulled my engine and towed it back to my house. They will rebuild engine in couple months when they are finished with current projects.
Gives me time to do my part. Which is basically replace or rebuild everything.

Absolutely beautiful Al. That car, in that color, screams "SUMMER!"
Taking on this project will create a bond between you and the car (as corny as that sounds). Something that can't be had by simply plunking down $$$ on a restored vehicle from a dealer.
Your comments about this forum are 100% accurate. I am a new C3 owner myself. I'm still learning about the common quirks and problems that can be expected in this generation Corvette.
I have a lot of work to do myself, and the folks here have been amazingly helpful. What a great resource for folks like us.
For that reason, I chose to become a member and provide a bit of support to help keep the forum operating.
It's a great online community of folks who share a love for America's sports car. Perhaps, someday, we'll all meet up and go for a drive.
Best of luck with your stunning '69.

Ok !!!!!!!
On a thread somewhere here Wilcox said you must take the steering column out to remove the driver side dash
Got that bitch out !!
Wilcox is absolutely correct
previous owner took dash off with column in and broke It and the speedometer was not screwed in and the tach as in with only one screw !!!!!!
So will have to buy new dash
One screw only Speedometer just fell out.
and dash really damaged pretty bad I think beyond repair since one screw hole is busted off and a big chunk of plastic is gone and another holding on with glue

I called your shop.
They told me they don’t think you will be installing soft tops anymore ?
You think this is the kind of a job a novice and his wife can do ourselves??

You might want to try saving that dash pad by re-glassing the back. From what I've read on this forum the replacement dash pads have fitment issues. Or at read up/search about dash fitment issues on this forum.

Will order new as last resort.

Maybe over the summer if your hands recover and you are slow ?

Yea, that's another fun job. Try to find a comfortable way to sit while you do that work!

Looking at that rat's nest, I'm guessing you're replacing the harnesses. Good plan,, When you get the new ones, hang them by one end and work the twists and kinks out. Makes life much easier!
