Just watched video for changing steering wheel on 76 column. The lock for the telescope is done by turning the ring on the front center of the steering wheel. My 76 had a custom wheel on it when on got it and the lock for the telescope is a lever behind the steering wheel. Question is has the column been changed in my car. My car was an early build mid sept of 75.
Thanks Bob

Bob.. posting a picture of what you have would work wonders on your posted thread. If you don't mind post what you have and i"m sure either I or someone else will answer your question.
To me it looks as if someone has made a custom adapter to allow that aftermarket wheel work.
The original wheel in a 1976 was a four spoke plastic wheel.
It looked like this and was molding in the interior color of the car
We have the conversion kit in stock that would allow you to convert the wheel to a 77-82 style
Here is a picture of one we did for a customer the other day (keep in mind that this is a complete custom interior color in this car, it's not the original red).
Need to resurrect this thread as I'm in the midst of replacing both the lower - and - upper steering column bearings on my '66 and have run into an issue with the upper bearing! The issue is that the upper bearing doesn't seem to want to "seat" far enough into the turn signal switch to allow the gold horn clip to sit flush with the outside of the turn signal switch - and that prevents the hub from going in all the way. Pictured below is the new upper bearing from ZIP - and I noticed it contains a small cut out around the rim that the old one doesn't have - does that get oriented a certain way? I noticed that there seems to be a small "shoulder" @ an 1/8 of an inch inside the turn signal switch - do I need to tap the bearing gently so it sits up against that shoulder? I figured this would be a piece of cake . . . not so easy apparently! HELP!!!

Is this in regards to a '66? Might be better to start a new thread and in the C2 section?
