Default LOF Windshield date code

I recently removed my windshield from my 58. I am trying to identify whether it is the original or not. I found the LOF logo with Safety (LOF) Plate and then right below it had AS1TV. I found a decoder on your website and think it relates to August 56 if you use the T for the month and the V for the year. But, if you reverse them and use the T for the year and the V for the month instead you get Dec. 57. My car was assembled Jan. 58 so is it possible the code is reversed? Have you ever heard of that or is it simply someone put a 56 windshield on a 58 car? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

You probably would have done better posting this in the C1/C2 section, instead of the C3 General section, but I'll try to help you.

The month always comes first in LOF glass date coding, so the "T" would be August. In your situation, it is possible that someone used an earlier windshield in your 58, because all 56-62 windshields and windshield frames, are interchangeable, but there is a second, more likely possibility. "V" is the LOF year code for 1956, but it was also used as the code for 1969, 1982 and 1994. It's possible, and probably more likely, that someone put a new LOF windshield in your car either around 1969, 82 or maybe even in the 90's.
