Default ‘78 Pace car info

Hey guys. Currently a ‘61 roadster and ‘90 ZR-1 owner, and currently looking at a ‘78 Indy pace car for sale hear in the land down under. Could some of you knowledgeable C3 owners tell me the specs for build # 117 of the 1978 Indy pace car. Seller hasn’t listed vin or engine number, but is claiming it’s a L82. Just wanting some info before I contact him about the car he has listed for sale, as I am very interested.

Ask the seller for the Vin number. That's the easiest way your going to get the exact options for that Pace car.

The vin will probably look like this 1Z8748S900117 if a L82. If the 5th digit is an L then it is a L48.

Not much can be told other than the 9 indicating Pace Car or the 5th digit for the model.

The c3 registry doesnt have it listed and a google had no info. Perhaps someone on the forum once owned it?

Hopefully with such a low number he kept all the documentation with the invoice. If not you can order a copy of the invoice at least for $50 from the Heritage Center.

In the meanwhile if you would like some sites to visit about the 78 model year:
https://www.corvetteactioncenter.com...978/index.html

This is a 153 page pdf for the 78 year specifications:

Thanks for the quick reply. I have had a reply from the seller and the vin number he sent through matches exactly the vin number you posted. I will have a read up of those sites you listed and try and get some tips on what to look out for when buying a c3.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers, Russell

Wow. Great photo. Puzzled, how come the Camaro gets a covered rail carriage and the Corvettes are left in the open
