Put a price on all your parts, and then give the money to charity.
That is the way I do it here in Denmark.
Just yesterday I sold something here in DK, the price was very good, but still people wanted a discount !!
I then say, buy to the cheap price, or stay away.
This is what I support, sorry it's in Danish, but look anyway, look at the pictures, the hospital clowns makes the kids VERY happy, when they come = I'm very happy !!!!

Just another Corvette guy
Hi Dave,
I feel your pain on this one.
I have had many Corvettes so I end up with a lot of parts that I know I'll never use. I usually try to pass these along to members at no cost, much as you do. I don't really need another $20, I'd rather help out one of my Corvette brothers when I can.
I usually support the Christmas freebie parts thread, but a while ago I found one member was asking for almost everything I listed, different years, different cars, etc. I knew there was no way he could be using the parts and that he probably intended to sell them. I stopped listing there.
I think I've found a solution. I comb the "Parts Wanted" forum and when I come across someone asking for a part I have, collecting dust in the garage, I offer it directly to them at no cost. I'm happy, they're happy, nobody needs to know and, as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, it never hurts to make a deposit in the Karma bank.
You're a good member, doing the right thing Dave and the ones who know and appreciate your help, always will.
Kind regards, Greg

Not just parts. When somebody needs information, you give it to them no charge. And that's sometimes harder to get than a part. Don't let the bottom feeders change you.

Wow this is sad state of not just this forum but the world we live in!!
David it would be very sad if you stopped offering these parts. I for one have benefited by it and its people like you who offer parts and wisdom amongst many others that make this forum great. Some great advise here to weed out some of the gamers. I am new to all this but don't let a few bad apples spoil it for you and the rest of the group!!!!!
In fact David you sold me my first part to help correct my Vette, a rear window storage tray, one of my first posts here as well.
I have said this before but I cannot say it enough, thank you again and thank all of you for all the assistance in making my Vette look its best. No way I could have done it and had so much fun doing it!!! Ike

I ran into the same thing with Jeep CJ parts. Restored a couple Jeeps and of course had parts left both new and used. Gave a guy a transfer case as I had no use for it, and it showed up on Craigslist the next week. After that, I only give parts to someone I know or just scrap them. Sad.

I'd like to add another point of view.. David has been extremely generous with me in offering free parts. I have not and will not sell what has been given to me. The parts and knowledge that have been given are both helpful and greatly appreciated. As I SLOWLY get my car together I've been trying to pay it forward by giving away extra parts that I might accumulate, as per David's example. We all know how expensive this hobby can be and without the help of other hobbyists some of us would be excluded from enjoying the corvette world! One day I'll actually get to drive my car and I for one won't forget those that helped me get to my goal.
As David has exemplified not all corvette owners are TACOS.
THANK YOU SIR

Just another thumbs up for David.
He was looking for some original valve covers and had a new removable rear window gasket he was willing to trade for the covers.
I did not have any covers that would fit his needs.
But I asked if he would sell me the gasket. I need one for my project. Had everything but the gasket.
Typical David....... he sent it to me for free including the postage.
His attitude is infectious .... for me anyway. Its nice to feel good about helping someone else when given the opportunity.
The world can use more Davids and less of the naysayers/whiners.
In my opinion anyway.
Peace
Bman (Dennis)

Rude, obnoxious, and just plain WRONG! The man offers free parts to help out another enthusiast, and they take those and sell them? THAT is the true definition of a selfish a$$hole! Karma is a bee-otch, just sayin`. They will get their just rewards.... hopefully a blown engine, or a nice telephone pole to the front quarter.
I appreciate the kindness, advice, parts, and other help I`ve received from fellow forum members, and this just pi$$es me off to no end that somebody would abuse the generosity of someone as giving as David.

I wonder why this comment from you doesn’t surprise me. You really need to go away! What a fricken comment!
I am another who knows and thinks the world of David. I think the comments so far reflect the way people appreciate what you do here on the forum.

I was one of the recipients of a trim ring and a center cap that David was offering for free, just pay shipping. I put the trim ring on my left rear wheel and put the original one and the center cap in a box of misc. parts that will go to the next owner of my '71. I think of David every time I look at the trim ring, he's a great asset to the forum.
