Default New block?

Can anyone tell me the condition of my block? Should i get a new one or should I use this? I have no experience in anything so every tip helps sorry if the pictures are bad. I only found one crack near the location of the oil filter. I am not sure if this is how it’s suposed to be or if it is a damage. The block has been sitting for 23 years so some work is needed?? Look at the pictures provided please)))

Thanks in advance

Here is the crack I am talking about. It is on the right sylinder

show the crack near oil filter. i have a feeling it is an edge where the mold went together. what is engine's history. those mains look fine, so the engine did not have an oil pressure problem. as long as you are sure the main caps weren't mixed up when disassembled. you can check by putting them back on the block without bearings and match up the tool marks where the surface was machined. the bores look pretty good. i would consider getting it magged and measured and assemble it at the bore size it is. but you can always justify boring it out if you were planning to anyway.

It isnt a crack, its more a piece that is missing (?)

we need a pic. If its a big enough chunk where the oil filter seals to the block, that may give you the answer. Otherwise, bring it to a machine shop, find out what they charge and have them check the block. So far it looks good from the pics, but it should be measured

just saw the pic, but the lighting is difficult to tell . it looks like its just a lip of the bottom but it depends on what happened. Bring it to a shop for a magnaflux inspection. You dont want to have a hair line crack migrating up the cylinder into the water jacket

If the shop says there is no crack then I would have them hone it and radius the chip so it doesnt become a problem, Then you can rebuild it or have them do it. Its not hard to rebuild the engine, you can buy a book on it and just follow the instructions. The hard part is the machine work. Its a good learning experience.
