radio for 1980
is the radio for 1980 vette the same as the chevelle, monte carlo and chevy truck? One on ebay and claims they are the same.
Someone has replaced the original in mine and would like to put it back to original. The model # they are selling is MODEL NUMBER 9345270-1. Any idea the model number and where it can be found on the radio?
Any idea where might be able to get one?

Typically they use the same radios EXCEPT the Corvette uses black buttons and the other cars use chrome buttons. Also, they had several radio options for 1980, which one originally came with yours?
U58 AM/FM Stereo
UM2 AM/FM Radio, stereo w/ 8-track
UN3 AM/FM Radio, stereo w/ cassette
UP6 AM/FM Radio, stereo w/CB

In 1977, Chevrolet redesigned the dash of the Corvette so that it would except the standard GM corporate radio, instead of the Corvette only radio used in previous years. So generally, the same basic radios were all used across many GM models, but there were minor differences in appearance, features, functions, etc., of those radios. As such, a radio from a 1980 Monte Carlo or Malibu (the Chevelle name was dropped in 1978) will fit an 80 Corvette dash, but it may not be the exact same radio.
Unfortunately, the Corvette parts books only list radios by a part number, not a model number. The part numbers for 1980 radios were all 8 digit numbers that started with 1600xxxx. I'm not familiar with any way to cross reference the part numbers with the model numbers. In the 60's Chevrolet printed Radio Service and Shop Manuals, that included the various model numbers, but by the 70's, I think GM had stopped printing them. I don't have a 1980 Corvette Shop Manual, so I can't say if the regular 80 Shop Manual includes radio model numbers.

I've never had occasion to use this book before, but I picked up a Chassis and Body Parts Catalog: Corvette 1953-1980 off of eBay. Below is the image of the "Radio" section. Several 1600xxxx part numbers would be appropriate. My repro 80 shop manual doesn't seem to have models listed.
