Default Urethane bumpers

Hi all,

im repainting my corvette,

the rear eurethan bumper, I believe with a solid sanding I can save...

the front on in the other hand, it has seen better days! I’m thinking the only options are replace it or have it sand blasted....

also when replacing I’d have to decide between a new eurethane bumper or a replacement fiber glass one!

any recommendations??? I like the idea of a urethane bumper for easy replacement and a bit of “forgiveness” if something were ever to be tapped!

thank you

FWIW: original urethane is long out of production. Finding one could take a while and is likely to be very expensive if one turns up.

If you think you may be able to save the bumper then replace it. You don't want it breaking down after you paint the car.

Any good sources for these bumpers? I found a new urethane front bumper, I believe I will replace that bumper for sure! the rear, really doesn't Look bad... I may still attempt to sand and save the bumper!

Thanks all,

I replaced both the front and back bumpers with GM restoration urethane bumpers that I purchased from Ecklers. Both bumpers have held up well and were easy to install as all the holes for the brackets and lights are already drilled.
When I looked at Ecklers web site they show out of stock. I also see them on Vol Vettes web site, but do not know if they are in stock or possibly discontinued.

I wouldn't do the fiberglass ones from the front. Lots of alignment issues. Ask me how I know.
Swap meets are a good place to buy one. I picked one up for $200 and i will keep it until I am ready to repaint.
