I'm doing a frame off restoration on my 69 roadster. I already purchased all new brake lines but now that I'm going all the way with this project powder coated frame, van steel suspension, Wilwood brakes etc I'm wondering if I should go SS brake lines? Do they really looked maintain a better appearance. I'm not cheap but the steel lines are already in a box in the garage waiting. My frame off project
The stainless steel lines are stiffer and harder. They can have issue sealing as it takes more pressure to seat them in the fittings. That's not to say they can't work. Obviously people use them with success and they do look better for a much longer period. You have to decide if it is worth the possible extra problems and cost for the cosmetics.
Someone here a while back posted some copper crush flare washers that are supposed to be the cats *** for stainless lines......maybe this will jog someones memory.
I did all stainless and will not do it again. Yes I did get them to seal (and used copper in at least one place) but had to re-paint several locations where it caused problems before getting it sealed. If I have to touch it again it'll get replaced with ni-cop
Stainless gas lines, no problem as they don't have the flare issue, that said the one from the pump to the carb took a few tries to get right.

I found no problems with the SS brake lines, sealing and otherwise. And they look great in my engine compartment. Read up on sealing SS lines a bit, particular care is required.
The SS gas lines were a different story. It was difficult to get the curvature right over the pickup in the rear.
