1972 Corvette
Hi everyone,
I'm located in Toronto Ontario Canada & I am looking at purchasing a chrome bumper C3. This car is for sale locally and I wanted to get some feedback. Although I have not seen the car & will do my due diligence before proceeding, the owner has reassured me that the bird cage and frame are in great condition. It is a numbers matching car and appears to be well cared for by the current owner who has owned the car for 15 years. The car was repainted about 5 years ago. I was hoping to find a 4 speed but the inventory locally is quite slim at the moment. Prices are all over the place in Canada & many cars tend to be over priced due to supply/demand. I am very open to purchasing a car in the US but by the time all is said & done, exchange, freight, taxes etc I am looking at an additional 50% landed here in Canada. I can get the car for $23K Cdn which is the equivalent of about $17K US. Photos below.

Looks like a nice car. Worth a trip to see it. Good luck.

Car sits very high front and back. Paint seems too much metallic, has leather replacement seat when the car came with standard interior, has door panel repair patches, Non-stock radio, later model steering wheel, side exhaust not offered on a 72, washer pump jerry-rigged, right side added mirror.

Right side added mirror? Were these offered on other years, like say a 76? Mine has them on both sides like this one, you have me wondering if mine was std that way.
Some things appear a bit different but it looks like a great car. I love the color.

Taking all of that into consideration, I think it is right priced at $17K USD. That is IF (and this is big if) the frame and birdcage are as the guy say they are. Not much to not like about this car. If you are planning a NCRS type of car, it may have some things going on that would make it tough (like what was the original color?) If you looking for a car to just drive and enjoy, this may be a good choice.

Looks nice. Check the rust spots. Better safe than sorry. Overall it looks quite nice. Not so special that you cannot make your own modifications and some are already done. Not my preference in color but if it looks as well underneath as we can see up top, then the color can be changed.
Check the wiper and wiper-door operation. Something looks off there. Could get expensive if you need to replace many parts.

I had a new O/O 72 that I ordered and they had only (1) mirror offered and no leg pipes were offered...Is that supposed to be Ontario Orange? and I don't recall that recovery tank but I'm not certain.

Love the color....Not crazy about the added side pipes or mudflaps. They did fix the exhaust holes on the rear valance. The engine at first glance looks like it's been freshly rebuilt but notice the overspray on the coolant hose....? It might have been sprayed in place. IMO if the frame and birdcage are in good shape and you like this one jump on it.

I think that it is supposed to be Ontario Orange. When I spoke with the owner he mentioned that the body tried to match the original colour. I haven't seen it in person but I think that the colour match was a miss,

Always wonder why every once in a while I see a Vette and it sits like a 4x4......I think this one is sitting high and the 235 tires do nothing to help this look.
But.....if the usual suspects check out (Birdcage, frame) that is a pretty solid buy from what I can see.
But cut coils and 8" rear leaf bolts are in this cars future.
FWIW.......I have an add on passenger mirror ( non -sport) on my 72' and I am here to say that I would not live without it......if I bought on that didn't have a mirror, I would add one......mine looks like GM put it on...I believe it is from a 73'

Where in the GTA are you located? I am also in the GTA, and I happen to own a ‘72 that I personally did a body-off restoration to......which included a rusty frame and rusty windshield frame that needed to be repaired/replaced. I know my car on an intimate level.
Where is the car located?
EDIT: Is this the car? https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars...rce=ios_social

Hi,
I am in Oakville. No, that is not the one, the car is located near Wasaga Beach. He removed the add prior to putting it into storage.

Just to add to what others have already stated about this car:
The lifted look of the car may be due to the fact that it was on a lift just prior to the pics taken, and the suspension hasn't settled yet.
I have circled three areas in this pic; (1) the 3 door compartment frame and carpet is the wrong color, the middle door is backwards and broken, and speakers have been cut into the outer doors (2) the shoulder belts and retractors are missing (3) the door skin is cracked:
In this pic, there is Velcro on the rear t top ledge, and what appears to be expanding foam:
I am on the other side of the GTA from you guys, in Durham Region. I go to a lot of car shows, so I may run into you somewhere!
If you are interested, this is a link to the online version of a magazine article about myself and my car from Sept 2017:
