Removing Undercoating. Any Suggestions?
After a 2 year break I'm back to work on my '81. One of my first de-Bubbafication projects is to remove the crappily applied undercoating. He sprayed that mess everywhere. Any suggestions on how to remove it without damaging the fiberglass?

I had the same issue...heat gun..scraper...then clean with lacquer thinner I I would try paint thinner first) ....lots of rags and a ton of patience..... and just to make it a truly enjoyable experience...a respirator.

I laid on my back with my ‘63s body on a dolly for 2 weeks and scraped every bit of crap off the underside with a putty knife and everything Norm suggested. But I also used this stuff from Eastwood’s... made for cleaning the undercarriage. Stuff on the left is a degreaser, stuff on the right is made to remove undercoating.
I used a lot.

That looks great. I scraped my font frame and one wheel well with a razor blade. When I do a frame off I'll add in the chemicals. Wire wheels make more of a mess and are slower, a void those on fiberglass ans your frame. A tabletop grinder with a wire wheel is great for small parts though

Thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to this. (NOT!) I know its going to be a PIA but it will be worth it. Norm's pic proves it, that looks great! Bubba even sprayed it in the bay for the wipers in front of the windshield! Now that's gonna be fun!

Use a heat gun with your razor blade/scraper.......get it soft and it comes right off.
