So I am done installing the Dynamat Extreme in the back of my ‘69... I am wondering if I am overdoing it (or underdoing it)! I have been cutting out sections so I can squeeze the stuff into each nook and cranny, then using metal tape (the kind used with flexible ducts) to keep the pieces from curling.
Here’s where I am. My first time doing this and yes, I’m pretty **** about details so this much took me several hours (like 8 total)...

Thoughts?
thanks guys!

You're not ****. You want to do a good job. Looks like you have done an excellent job.
I haven't done the back of my '81 yet. The front half I did just like you. I covered mine with Dynaliner on top of the Dynamat. The car is insulated and quiet now! Oh yeah I put it on the door panels also.

Thanks for the kind words. One bad thing about doing every nook and cranny means the two boxes I bought won't be enough.
When you did the doors, how much coverage did you get and were the doors affected (how they sit and / or close etc)?
Thank you again.

I still need to dynamat the doors. But one large box covered the whole cabin and left 2 sheets available for the door panels. I will likely cover the rear storage compartments if I have enough extra left.
Looks great! I spent the extra time covering my cabin like you did as well.

WOW!! I did not plan to remove the dash panels and instruments (I don't have that kind of know-how and would have to pay someone to re-assemble!!). I did remove the armrest and shifter covering. Thanks much!!

I already had it all apart, I don't blame you for not wanting to open that can of worms...
You did a real nice job with that! Does doing the doors make a huge difference? I was planning on just removing the carpet and doing the floor of my 68. Im hoping it helps with the noise/heat of the side pipes!
Wow, excellent job. I am in the process of doing my 1980. The stuff seems pretty forgiving. I am doing reflectix over the dynamat as well. First time Ive done this also so I'm trying to error on the side of too much rather then not enough. Gil

One question I do have is whether or not you used the Dynamat on the area where the sills mount? I didn't yet because I figured that might mess up the height the sills sit at...I know the Dynamat is only 1/16" but still...
Thanks again!

I did not put any dynamat on the sill mount surface for that same reason. .

I had not considered (or really heard of) Reflectix. Is it strictly for heat reduction or noise as well? Also, which specific product are you using?

Installing the Dynamat on the doors made a huge difference.
It quieted down the outside noise and temperature as well as the squeaks and rattles of the door.
I cut openings for all of the adjustment screws and around the power window motor cover for easy access.
I also placed Dynamat inside of the door on the outer panel.
I am extremely happy and have only done the doors and front of the cabin.
I just installed some louder mufflers and need to do the rear now.
I agree, doing the doors made the biggest difference for me. Huge noise reduction and I just cut little strips and put them in all the easy places so I would say i got about 40-50% coverage.

So, I'll ask you the same question...did the addition of the Dynamat make any difference to the doors (did you have to adjust them due to weight?) once installed?
