Default Custom front grill pics

Does anyone have photos of a 68/69 with custom front grills instead of the stock one? I have the 69 brackets and round marker light but I still need to buy the actual grills and the chrome L shaped pieces.

I was wondering if anyone has done something custom like used some sort of mesh or anything in place of the stock front grill.

Thanks!

I was thinking something more like this. Black mesh with the little punched holes. To put in place of the side grills and then put a little orange led behind for the marker light.

Do you know someone with a 3D printer? You'd be surprised how sturdy the fabricated parts can be, and you can have it match the existing bolt pattern.

Sadly, no, I have not tried this myself for this application.

Some examples here (mostly not automotive)

That yellow one is sort of what I’m thinking of doing. And then have a stealth marker light behind the grill.

Search Ebay for aluminum grille mesh black. Or leave off the black for nat color. Keep in mind the grille is part of the air duct feeding the radiator. The flat blades act as fan blades directing air upward to the rad. A mesh could just be an obstruction. Diffusing the airflow and leaving it with no real direction.

do you think it could really have a negative impact on the airflow??

It absolutely will. Large holes flow best, small holes add turbulence. At high enough speed, the air will "see" it as an obstacle, especially for a fine mesh. The stock slots direct the flow towards the radiator, and more air comes from under the bumper. Later cars (perhaps yours, too), have a spoiler well under the bumper to direct additional air over the radiator.

For the RideTech car, this may be intentional. At speed (for a road-racing car), you don't need to breathe all that air, and keeping it out from under the hood helps keep the nose down. There are several racers on this Forum that intentionally limit the amount of air that goes in the front of their car. The RideTech car also has the big C7-style hood vent to let the cooling air out of the engine compartment after it has been through the radiator.
