Been wanting to get another c3 , I found a nice 77 that has been restored , new paint , rebuilt motor L48,,, new interior,, etc etc. the asking price is almost 16,000 dollars. It’s a very nice car , but the price seems high to me. I’m asking for others thoughts on this , Thanks in advance...

I just paid a few bucks more for this 79 L82 car with just under 15,000 miles, you be the judge;
At that price I would definitely pass unless 'restored' in your description means frame off, every bushing replaced, etc. in which case it may be worthwhile.
fresh paint and rebuilt motor is always worth a couple grand more than normal..
the 6-7 grand cars have a much higher potential to be rusty and have problems.
its ok to pay that much, but make sure it is pristine.
I picked up a bright yellow 1975 3 weeks ago and I am so excited with it...mine needs a bit of frame work, however I got it at a ridiculous price, only because the owner was fed up with it hanging around, didn't know how to fix it and wanted it out of their space...but from the research i did last few months i've seen later model c3's in canada going anywhere from $6000 - $16000. depending on the condition. I would negotiate the price down and see what happens...also, below is an example of a mint 1975 yellow c3 for sale in ontario for you to compare against.....As others may have said though, what people have it listed for and what they can get are two different things...(then again, prices in canada are a bit higher because there are fewer of them around here, there is a ton more C3's for sale in the states)
It seems. he's holding out because he can...one way to look at it is, if the car has low mileage, a provenance of service records, all the major areas already addressed, like the frame, birdcage, paint, tranny, and engine, then stepping up a few more thousand, is maybe less stressful than buying one a bit cheaper with more work that is needed...From what Ive read, the earlier C3's like 1968-1974 with no emission control are more money and more desirable... 1975 was the first year with catalytic and less hp...1977-1982 they introduced the bubble rear window....:-)
From my conversation with the seller , the price is firm,, he seems to think that he could get a lot more for it.
I was going to suggest working with the seller if you really like the car, but that statement is almost a deal breaker to me. Very difficult to make a deal when a seller has unrealistic expectations with respect to the market. No doubt that the seller has that much in it though.
nothing wrong with trying to get top dollar for your car. see the post above where someone did pay 16+ for a rubber bumper car. looks like a pretty nice car.
if the car is definitely above the rest, its worth that to a special buyer and he will pay it.
the great condition cars will skew the averages.
If he thinks he could get more why isnt it priced there? He knows its high but can you blame him?
You can always send a msg "When youre ready to actually sell it call"

I did that several years ago. A local car lot had a pickup that was exactly what I was seeking. I drove it, checked it out and made an offer. We weren't close. I took out my business card, wrote my top offer on it, and told him when he was tired of storing the truck, call me. 3 weeks later it was in my drive way for my price.
