There have been many anomalies with trim tags noted over the years. Do you have an odd one? Could it simply be a repaint?
Post a picture of it and the year of your car here and let's see if we can't get to the bottom of it.

Common....
Yep...quite common after 40-50 years for some cars to have a color change. Mine was originally blue and that is what's on the trim tag.

Please post some pictures. Sometimes the paint inside the rivets on the trim tab will match the original paint color of the car, depending on the year.
Lots of things could have happened. There are even counterfeit trim tags floating around to cover up color changes (most often to black).
If your car doesn't match the trim tag, it was most likely repainted (red?).
