Different valve covers

Default Different valve covers
I have a '75 L48 and the valve cover are the type with little fins and the flag emblems and I've seen same cars with plain orange ones. Why the difference ?

The L82 cars had the finned aluminum valve covers. You could by them from the dealer though and install them on L48's.

FWIW - If the valve covers are black they are L82, if the valve covers are silver they are LT-1, either way the valve covers you now have are/were a popular upgrade to the base engine.

Early L-82's had silver, later ones had black.

And L-81s and L-83s had black magnesium covers
