1974 One Off Only Frame Data
Below I am posting two pictures for your review.
Both pictures show the rear section of a 1974 frame.
If you look closely you will see that in 1974 (first rear non chrome bumper cars) they added a section to the stock 73 frame to serve as a mounting point for a rear frame bumper. Meant to collapse in a rear end collision it is somewhat crude in design but a transition from chrome to rubber rear bumper. One year use only, then the rear of the 73 frame was changed to a 75 square back frame with shock absorber type setup.
If you have never seen one then here you go.
If you have seen them before then you will recognize this one.
First picture had the fuel and brake lines on it yet, second picture shows that these have all been removed.
Detail of the impact absorber section is easier to see in the first picture.
This frame is from my 1974 convertible and it is heading out shortly for eight new body mounts, new corner support gussets, a bolt extraction, and weld enhancements; after which it will be media blasted and powder coated. I will build back the frame to a rolling chassis and put it back up under my convertible as my 2019/2020 Summer/Fall/Winter/Spring project.
I just thought some of you might like to see an original 1974 frame rear section as it is unique.
I hope you find it helpful
Have a fantastic Spring.

David, thanks for posting the 74 frame photos. I have recently had the need to tighten one of the bolts on the 74 rear bumper attachment.

Am I to assume that your "getting the suspension back on it in two weeks" plan has changed somewhat?
I am not surprised that it would be any less than perfect!

I had to wait for the opening in the schedule at my valued frame shop and they have an opening for me Wednesday so I am heading there soon and hope to have the frame ready to go soon. Then back to the chassis assembly, yes.
