Thanks resdoggie,
I spent a good part of yesterday evening googling and watching the Gtech Pro SS and RR.
I most certainly thing the SS is adequate for any of my needs. Even the SS is over kill but I could certainly share with friends and family.
Has anyone had practical experience with the G-Tech Pro SS?
I've read the articles and watched the factory videos but I'd like to hear real users reactions.
Thanks
Scott

I have one that is several years old now. Never really tried out all its capabilities other than 60 ft times and speedometer by gps. Nice feature is that it can lock onto 12 satellite gps signals for accuracy. Newer models have lcd screen which is nice. I like mine.
I have a phone app called GPS Acceleration. It includes a speedometer that is accurate, compared to my 2 daily driver cars, but my 79's speedo is off. (which will be another thread)
I have found that the acceleration times are inconsistent. I think because it lags when you are accelerating, if that makes sense. It was free, so I can't complain too much.
I suppose that a high end one would be more accurate.
I appreciate the input.
I just ordered a new fuel pressure regulator for my ride. Hopefully that will fix my start issues.
If so, I will be looking into the G-tech SS Pro. Sounds like it would a fun tool to play with.
69 Shark- I have a G-Tech Pro and have had good luck with it. I had a passenger use a stopwatch to check 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times when I first got it and it was really accurate.
Does anyone use a performance meter to collect 1/4 mile times?
Are they worth the cost? Are they accurate?
I see there are apps for the smart phones but the couple I looked at showed reviews of inaccuracy.
Thanks for any input!
Scott
I had early version of the G-Tech pro and the only meter that was accurate was the g-force readings. As for predicting lap times 1/4 times, it wasn't very good at all for me.
I now use GPS units. But even with GPS units it depends on the GPS rate.
eg. The IPhone with harry's laptimer is only using GPS Rate of 1 HZ that's 1 reading every second.
vbox sport which has a GPS @ 20HZ so a 20 GPS readings every Seconds.
They can be expensive but I used the vbox sport to tune the carb / timing curve for max acceleration for 46 KPH - 125 KPH range which was ~ 1800RPM - 5500 RPM range 2nd gear.

Using the phone GPS @ 1HZ is the problem. Most people attach external GPS units that run 5- 20 HZ. The faster the better the apps will be, provided the app works with external GPS Units.

I bought a G-Tech Pro SS last yr to play with and get some real world baselines for mods. You HAVE to let it sync with the Sats before moving or it almost never will lock on, other than that - its a useful tool
