Default Rust never sleeps

Just getting familiar with my new 72 and found the jack looked like it hadn't been used for a few months when investigating the storage compartments!

Lol, agree. It must have been put back in the car wet years ago. Took a while to clean the compartment but good news is that it cleaned up well. Off to buy a new jack today 😀

I'd bet your jack compartment has been or is collecting water. You might want to investigate to make sure it's not still leaking.

If I were you I’d have a good inspection to the rest of that car

Rest of car is great, no signs of rust anywhere.

I've taken it out and scrubbed after only 1 day and looks good! It's back in its vinegar bath again now. Will end up priming and painting as well so should look fairly tidy. Thanks for the tip.

Just showed the guy who previously owned the car for 12 years and he never knew the jack was under the storage tray in the rear. Lol. Probably no surprise it had rusted after being in a dark sealed up area for over 12 years!

SPCL FX fixes tour busses. This shot was in his 77 vette thread. Pretty sure the guy in ball cap and sunglasses facing the camera is Neil.
