Digital PRNDL indicator

Made up two plates to fit the area where the PRNDL goes
One I engraved and powder coated so I knew I had something to get on the road with
The other I milled out a slot the same as the regular automatic has and made a smoked piece of lexan to fit
While everything was apart, 3d printed up some brackets and installed a 10k sliding resistor onto the shifter cable where it meets the outer sleeve. Turns out the shifter travel right there is almost exactly 45mm which is what this pot has.
Buttoned everything together with the engraved plate and went to work on other things (HEI install) knowing I could drive this way at least
And then it started to rain and kept raining most the the month it seems so I finished the HEI and went back to the displays
Programmed a cheap nano micro processor to check the position of the slider and interface with 3 small blue LCD screens (couldn't find a screen that was as tall as I wanted without being too wide so had to go this way to complicate things)
Soldered a mass of cable rather than trying to work our a circuit-board and connected to the micro, added a 12v to 5v converter and boxed everything up
Set the gear vs slider relations and added a "boot screen" for tackiness

And then it does exactly what the original silkscreen sticker did
Anyway, a ton of hours screwing around and I've replaced the stock sticker with a far more complex solution with a questionable lifespan that will tell me that I've put the car into the gear that I've put it into thousands of times without looking... The boys in the imports would be jealous

this was my (poor mans) approach for my '72 when i put a 700R4 in.

when car is parked/off it looks like a completely stock T400 shifter label.
