When I bought my '68, the original starter motor (rebuilt) came with it, in a box. Well, I was told it was the original. I stashed the box with other parts, never caring to verify that it was indeed correctly dated. I came across the starter while moving things around, and for shitz-n-giggles I checked the date. The date is C22 and my build date is March 21.
Can that possibly be the correct starter motor? Thank you.
I'm guessing it is not the original starter. A March 21 car wouldn't have a March 22 starter motor. What's the 7 digit part number before the date code?
its possible as I think the starter was installed at St Louis and on the engine dress line which was after the trim tag was put on the car. so if the plant got a new batch of starters its possible
I can't imagine why the previous owner would have had the starter rebuilt if it weren't the original, and I understand about the parts date and build date sequence. That's why I asked if this could possibly be the original starter motor. Thank you
