Default Heater Valve Placement

If someone would be so kind as to post a picture or measure I would be eternally grateful. I am installing new heater hoses as they were removed from previous owner. I did find the correct heater valve but unsure where in the line it is to be place to look somewhat factory. Measurement from the fender hose strap or a pic would be great. Thanks! It is for a '79 Early so there is no bracket on the valve. Also it is an air conditioned car

What year? On my 79, it is pretty clear where it went, as there are holes in the fender where it was riveted in.

EDIT: I was mistaken on this. My 80 had the valve riveted in.

Mine is a '79 but the early version so there is no bracket on the valve, it is held in place by the hose. No rivet holes to go by. (early manufactured '79 have the 145 speedometer and three compartments behind the seats)
Thanks!

Cool, another early vs. late 79 difference! Some others are documented here:

Sorry I couldn't be more help for this question.

EDIT: I was mistaken on this. My 80 had the valve riveted in. There are some cool changes in the 79 model year, but this does not appear to be one of them.

All 79s that I have looked at over the years it just sits in the hoses and is not secured. Hopefully an original owner of a 79 can post a picture of a mounted one otherwise it seems the consensus in this forum is no mounting when asked.

I found this posted by Duke94 in his restoration of his 79. If he doesnt jump in send him a pm and ask for a measurement.

It was my very, very late 79 (actually a 1980) that had the valve riveted to the inside of the wheel well. Not my late 79. So nevermind!
