That is one slick 73!! If I add to my corvette stable it will probably be a 73. I read somewhere that the 73 was one of
Z. Duntov's favorite designs, saying something like 'That is really what a corvette should look like!'
A truly fortunate find!

Do you know anything about the history of the black color? Usually a Spec trim tag indicates a car delivered in primer. The dealer would have then painted it whatever color the buyer wanted.
Can you provide a picture of the of the Trim Tag?

Cool car, thanks for posting it. So few nice original cars being appreciated any more. A refreshing original in the restomod craze.
I bought my black ‘69 because of them discontinuing black after that year until ‘77 so these rare SPEC cars are fascinating.

Tom trim tag is posted in this thread. Car was purchased from a dealer in New York. Believed to be Hory Chevrolet. Hory ordered 30 black corvettes for 1973. These cars were produced I believe sept to oct 1972. This car has an oct 11 72 build date. My brother verified the paint is original. He has an Original paint brands hatch green 1971 lt-1. His car was judged second flight NCRS and I’m sure will top flight next show. The bonding seems are visible. All indications are this is a Hory Black Vette. I have ordered the ncrs package for the car. We are just waiting for the results.

Tom,
With the cars delivered in primer...
Did the factory supply the BLUE VIN door sticker and weatherstripping loose with the cars for the dealership to install?
IMHO Weatherstripping would have to be installed or else the cars would not pass the waterspray tests...

Melting Slicks
The cars that were painted in light grey primer always had silver painted rubber bumpers front and rear, and the weather strips were installed from the factory. I worked from the fall of 1972 till 1979 at the rail yard unloading the GM cars in Framingham Mass.
