This looks like a tilt steering column. Also that lever seems to have a push button the end of it. Is this the horn button that was recalled also?

77 has a few 1 year only things like the center dash cluster and IIRC the radio and AC controls. Vintage air doesn't make a kit for this year.

Also there is stuff in 77 that is split between 77 early or late. It makes looking for parts kinda a PITA.
The PO of my 77e car ordered a full weatherstripping kit for the car and gave it to me new in the box but its for mostly 77late.
77e cars have the alarm keyswitch in the fender. Late ones have it built in to the door keylocks.

Here are a couple of pictures from the previous owner that I received. This shows how he found it earlier this year.
The tarps and flat tire kinda explains the moisture in the car and engine compartment.

That horn button and lock ring are the recalled items. The button on the end of the tilt stalk is for cruise control.

Is the lock ring the shiny part right behind the horn button?
How rare is a 1977 tilt steering column, with button, lock ring and cruise control ?
Funny thing is doesn't have power steering as far as I can tell.

c3 power assist is all under the car on the steering linkage. It doesn't use a normal powersteering box like other cars.

I didn't see any power steering pump so I assumed it was a manual stear car.

Yes the lock ring is the shiny part behind the horn button !
That steering column is one year only and it appears that you have an early one because of the alarm system in the fender and the recalled horn button!
I have one of the recall letters from Gm for that horn button!
As far as rare goes it's a pretty hard item to come by cause they only made it one year !

It's a very early car with no crossed flags on the fender.

Got some updates. Got the drivers door open and found another nest inside the door.
Took a a bit of rough removal to get the door panel off. It looks like they hacked into door to add a remote control for the side mirror.
Also, Hood, battery and alternator removed.
I dont think the battery is going to be any good

I am starting to wonder if anyone actually showed up for that horn button recall. Every 77e still seems to have it. Mine does.

xpoc454 my '77's vin is 7S4095xx. Is yours around that?

I haven't looked at the vin yet but I did find this behind the glove box pocket. Is this normal to have a

date stamped inside the glove pocket?

I still haven't figured out how to get the doors open.
There are some specific Corvette Forum rules for parting out a car here so become familiar with them and when ready be sure to post what you are selling, with an asking price, in the C-3 Parts for sale section. I can give you more details about the horn button and it’s value and I have an original recall letter from Chevrolet that might be of interest to your buyer of the horn button. Good luck to you and have fun with it..
Best regards,
David

I added a parts for sale post finally for anyone who was following this poor car.
It has been named "Flounder" due to the fact that it looks like it was in a lake for some time.

Early or late?...is there a specific vin# that the early cars stop at and the late cars begin? I believe my 77 was made in March of 77. It was the alarm in the fender.
