I have decided to have a 383 stroker 415 hp installed in my 75. I'm using upgraded parts that I installed on the old L48; the intake manifold, carburetor and MSD ignition. My question is, is the L48 with Thumpr am & lift kit and March serpentine worth anything? I hate to just dump it. It has 95k miles, runs great and doesn't burn oil. If it's worth something, what should I ask for it.. reasonable..??
Thanks, Danny

I would think a good running no leak motor has got to be worth at least $1000. You can remove the march serpentine and sell it separate to recoup the cost of that. Post it for $1500 with the serpentine or make offer.
I realize every one wants a LS but getting one that is guaranteed running isnt easy. If you only get $500 for the motor its still money toward the 383. And the March systems arent cheap new so someone will buy that seperate
It's numbers matching but it's been altered. Plus, I'd have no where to store it. I'm going to die owning my Vette. The g-kids are already claiming claim..lol
I'm not sure "numbers matching" means much anymore with the rubber bumper Vettes. Could be wrong, who knows. If it was an L-82 with the 4-bolt mains and other good stuff, it might be worth something. A low power L-48 probably isn't worth much.
I sold the original L82 (4 bolt main) out of my wife's 78 with 65000 miles on it for 400 bucks with everything included except the carb, waterpump and front brackets. It ran fine.
