I just finally got my 1969 dream car and have noticed something that I did not notice at the time I purchased it.
It looks like there was some fiberglass body work done to the rear. The previous owner had shaved off the fiberglass so the rear is flat instead of the lip/curve at the end.
I was wondering if anyone may have recommendations on correcting this issue (other than custom fivberglass work)?
Post a picture of the shaved area from 3 feet. Do you mean there is no spoiler?
Welcome to the forum Aron. I am intrigued. The spoiler is one of the best features of the car. Why would someone straighten it.? Without removing the back half, sounds like fiberglass work is your only option.

Thanks for the warm welcome GD!
Exactly! I'm kicking myself for not noticing it earlier, however with the deal on the car I likley would have purchased it anyway.
Yea, the more I think about it, seems like it will need to be custom work.
Any ballpark idea on the cost? Never had fiberglass work done before..
doorgunner. post 2 here. he has done and documented this job on his 68. priya on here has too. search both of them for their resto threads. yours may be easier cuz you may just have to build yours up. but installing a correct tail panel will get you better results. this is not a job you can ask a body shop to do. we need pics of yours and where is home?
That corvette guy has a good point. Seems more plausible that the rear was changed out for whatever reason. If the car was hit, or just a personal preference. If this is the case, it will be expensive and time consuming to restore the car to its original configuration.
If your Corvette is already painted, and you are going to fix this issue, paint will be one of your biggest challenges. Trying to pull it off without painting the whole car and matching and blending color. A paint job on a Corvette can exceed 10 grand easily. There are several members on here with first hand experience with this type of work. Posting pictures of what you are working on will get more responses.
